How to Add Celestia (TIA) to MetaMask

Can You Add the Celestia Network to MetaMask?

Similar to other non-EVM chains, you cannot add the native Celestia network directly to MetaMask. MetaMask is designed for Ethereum and EVM-compatible blockchains. However, you can easily manage Celestia's token (TIA) when it exists as an ERC-20 token on a supported network.

Adding Wrapped TIA to MetaMask

The key is to add the 'wrapped' version of TIA to your MetaMask wallet. This requires finding the official ERC-20 contract address for TIA.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open MetaMask: Launch your MetaMask extension or app and ensure you are on the correct network (usually Ethereum Mainnet, but check where the TIA token is bridged).
  2. Find 'Import Tokens': Scroll down in your assets list and click the "Import tokens" link.
  3. Enter the TIA Contract Address: In the "Custom Token" tab, paste the official contract address for the TIA token. You can find this on Etherscan, CoinMarketCap, or the official Celestia project website.
  4. Auto-Fill and Confirm: After pasting the address, the token symbol (TIA) and decimals should appear automatically. Click "Add Custom Token," review the details, and then click "Import Tokens."

Your wallet will now display your balance of Celestia tokens. Managing your TIA in MetaMask is that simple, allowing you to interact with it across the vast Ethereum DeFi ecosystem.
